From a horses point of view

From a horses point of view: To pull me and make me stretch in places I cannot and find hard is something I try to do but after a while it just hurts and the pain may make me do things I do not want to do. Please just stop and ask why and not hurt me to make me do it again. Please take a step back and just notice something is not right. Please do for me as I did try for you... Please...

Thought, fact, quote 2/9/13

Fact 4the day: The Missouri Fox Trotter is a horse breed from the state of Missouri in the United States. It was developed in the Ozark Mountains by settlers in the early 19th century, and quickly developed into a gaited breed appreciated for its stock horse abilities, stamina and smooth gaits. It performs an ambling gait known as the "fox trot", a four-beat broken diagonal gait in which the front... foot of the diagonal pair lands before the hind, eliminating the moment of suspension and increasing smoothness.

2012's final numbers..

Its been one long year for 2012. I sat and worked out numbers last night as i knew it had been a busy year but had no idea how busy til i did this! Here goes:
58 horses and ponies came through the gates.
49 horses and ponies were rehomed.
7 went to rainbow bridge from the yard.
4 left to rainbow bridge in the homes that they had found but at least they had been loved and well cared for and repsected.
We still had 40 horses in at the yard.

Already even though only the 11th of Jan in 2013 we have rehomed 3 and have 4 more due to leave within the next 2 weeks.

Some thoughts and quotes for the day 11/1/13

Thought 4the day: nastiness or just playfulness.. Sometimes horses andponies are simply playful and it can be mistaken for being nasty or angry. Yesat times horses can be those as it depends on their past and what's happened tothem. The playful side though should be nurtured. We have one gelding who wouldhappily nick you hat or anything from your pockets!! What's your horses playfulside?

Quote 4the day: fair weather or any weather our 4 legged friend is alwaysthere for us.

Thought, fact and quote for the day 19/12/12

Thought 4the day: I've sat and watched over the years never judged as its not me but seen how some riders and their horses have a few 'quirks'. The rider has thought omg what and why is my horse doing this when if said and asked correctly in most cases not all (some have not learnt or been taught the correct way which doesn't help) the horse/pony would understand. If we do not sing from the same page how are we meant to get along let alone understand one another. Take a step back and ask yourself.

Thought, fact and quote for the day 5/12/12

Thought 4the day: Modern technology... I discovered yesterday watching and listening to Pauline that not all people move with the times! Pauline cannot save numbers on her phone so when shes texting people shes now thinking shes texting the right people and not shes confusing poor people by texting random things to them not realising shes doing it!!! Horses seem to go with the flow and adjust, adapt to whatever or whoever is going on... Poor Pauline!!!!! lol

Quote 4the day: Hold those dear to you and your horses closer.

Thought, fact and quote for the day 01/11/12

Quote 4the day: Not everything is straight forward life can give twists and turns just as if your in the saddle. Ride life and just go smoothly and jump those obsticles together... as one

Fact 4the day: A foal is an equine, particularly a horse, that is one year old or younger. More specific terms are colt for a male foal and filly for a female foal, but these terms are used until the horse is age three or four. When the foal is nursing from its dam (mother), it may also be called a suckling.

Thought, fact and quote for the day 30/10/12

Quote 4the day: Each horse has its own path and destiny just as we do. Go with the flow and be with them while you can on this side as well as the other side when you meet again..

Fact 4the day: Eventing (also known as horse trials) is an equestrian event where a single horse and rider combination compete against other combinations across the three disciplines of dressage, cross-country, and show jumping. This event has its roots in a comprehensive cavalry test requiring mastery of several types of riding.

Thought, fact and quote for the day 29/10/12

Thought 4the day: Sometimes we in life wear blinkers not just the horses you see in harness. We might decide to turn a blind eye to perhaps a bad habit like crib biting or perhaps a child shouting at a horse because the pony did not do as told. Perhaps the child should of asked? If we teach all the way we have learnt over the years imagine what a brighter life horses and ponies would have? I am ve...ry strict with my daughers around the horses but sometimes i feel that they have become too independant around the horses here as baing in mind not all are happy to see you when they first come in!
