Thought 4the day: It never seems to be a dull moment out the yard or even at home doing the paperwork! Its continuous and steady in the way the pen moves to the way the jobs are done and the horses seem to be coming in and now happily going out too. Its a hard job but worth every second when they fly the nest. Its what we strive for and aim for :'o) Whats your aim with your horse? We all aim for s...omething. Henry my baby boy it used to be in the first 2 years just to stay on! The next 3 were loving egb together and gaining levels as we made it to the 32k and were excelling the next level was waiting then he had an made half hour in the field and been on and off work for the past year with severe concussion. Our aim now is simply to ride together again. Whats yours?
Fact4 the day: The eye
The horse has the largest eye of all land mammals, and is designed to help the horse as a prey animal. It provides the horse with a wide field of monocular vision, as well as good visual acuity. Horses have two-color, or dichromatic vision, which is somewhat like red-green color blindness in humans. Because the horse's vision is closely tied to behavior, the hor...se's visual abilities are often taken into account when handling and training the animal.
The pinna of a horse's ears can rotate in any direction to pick up sounds
The hearing of horses is good, superior to that of humans, and the pinna of each ear can rotate up to 180°, giving the potential for 360° hearing without having to move the head. Often, the eye of the horse is looking in the same direction as the ear is directed.
