Quote 4the day: Believe in yourself and believe in your horse and together you will be unbreakable..
Fact 4the day: Markings on horses usually are distinctive white areas on an otherwise dark base coat colour. Most horses have some markings, and they help to identify the horse as a unique individual. Markings are present at birth and do not change over the course of the horse's life. Most markings have pink skin underneath most of the white hairs, though a few faint markings may occasionally have... white hair with no underlying pink skin. Markings may appear to change slightly when a horse grows or sheds its winter coat, however the difference is simply a factor of hair coat length, the underlying design does not change.
On a grey horse, markings visible at birth may become hidden as the horse turns white with age, but markings can still be determined by trimming the horse's hair closely, then wetting down the coat to see where there is pink skin and black skin under the hair.
Thought 4the day: Sometimes in life we bumble along and don't really open our eyes and take notice of who or what is around us. I was stuck at home yesterday so Pauline and Sue took over the yard for the day. I sat here and realised that even though i live in a house the yard is my home. The horses are my family and the surroundings of green fields (even with brown mounds in lol) is the scenery i ...prefer. I missed the horses and their quirks so much you could almost say i was having with drawel symtpons!!! Open your eyes and take stock of who and what you have around you before its too late. Don't let life rush you by sit back and spend time watching your four legged friends just being horses in the fields. Take time to take each other out for a hack or what ever it is you prefer. Quality and quanitiy is everything :o)
