Thought, Fact and Quote for the day :o)

Thought, fact, quote 2/9/13

Fact 4the day: The Missouri Fox Trotter is a horse breed from the state of Missouri in the United States. It was developed in the Ozark Mountains by settlers in the early 19th century, and quickly developed into a gaited breed appreciated for its stock horse abilities, stamina and smooth gaits. It performs an ambling gait known as the "fox trot", a four-beat broken diagonal gait in which the front... foot of the diagonal pair lands before the hind, eliminating the moment of suspension and increasing smoothness.

Some thoughts and quotes for the day 11/1/13

Thought 4the day: nastiness or just playfulness.. Sometimes horses andponies are simply playful and it can be mistaken for being nasty or angry. Yesat times horses can be those as it depends on their past and what's happened tothem. The playful side though should be nurtured. We have one gelding who wouldhappily nick you hat or anything from your pockets!! What's your horses playfulside?

Thought, fact and quote for the day 19/12/12

Thought 4the day: I've sat and watched over the years never judged as its not me but seen how some riders and their horses have a few 'quirks'. The rider has thought omg what and why is my horse doing this when if said and asked correctly in most cases not all (some have not learnt or been taught the correct way which doesn't help) the horse/pony would understand. If we do not sing from the same page how are we meant to get along let alone understand one another. Take a step back and ask yourself.

Thought 4the day: Modern technology... I discovered yesterday watching and listening to Pauline that not all people move with the times! Pauline cannot save numbers on her phone so when shes texting people shes now thinking shes texting the right people and not shes confusing poor people by texting random things to them not realising shes doing it!!! Horses seem to go with the flow and adjust, adapt to whatever or whoever is going on... Poor Pauline!!!!! lol

More specific terms are colt for a male foal and filly for a female foal, but these terms are used until the horse is age three or four. Thought, fact and quote for the day 29/10/12

Thought 4the day: Sometimes we in life wear blinkers not just the horses you see in harness. We might decide to turn a blind eye to perhaps a bad habit like crib biting or perhaps a child shouting at a horse because the pony did not do as told. Perhaps the child should of asked? If we teach all the way we have learnt over the years imagine what a brighter life horses and ponies would have? I am ve...ry strict with my daughers around the horses but sometimes i feel that they have become too independant around the horses here as baing in mind not all are happy to see you when they first come in!

Fact 4the day: A Grade horse is a horse whose parentage is unknown, unidentifiable, or of significantly mixed breeding. This differs from purebred animals of known bloodlines and also differs from deliberately crossbred animals that are produced with an intent of either creating a new breed of horse or an animal with characteristics that deliberately combine the strengths of two different breeds. ...Many grade horses are the result of unintentional or accidental breedings, though in some cases, they are the result of a planned breeding of a stallion and a mare, but animals who themselves are of uncertain bloodlines.

Thought 4the day: Quirks we all have them.. Life would be boring without! Now horses and ponies have their own quirks too its what gives them their own personality! Yes some may not be desired quirks and would have to be addressed but some are harmless and just plain funny!! Henry loves to throw his feed bucket out his door when done! What does your horse or pony do? Or even donkey come to think of it :o)
